Lenovo’s new products at IFA: Y70 Gaming Laptop and Erazer X315 Desktop

Now tha IFA trade show started at Berlin, Lenovo showcased its two new Gaming Rigs: Touch laptop Y70 and Erazer X315 Desktop.

The Y70 laptop comes bundled with great specifications:

  • 17.3″ touch screen display with 1920*1080 pixels resolution
  • Quad-core intel i7 processor with 16GB DDR3L memory
  • SSD ranging from 256GB to 1TB
It is said to be premium end of PC gaming market with company’s expectation to grow $2.3 billion in value over the period of next 3 years.

 

 Next is the Desktop lineup from Lenovo. Erazer X315 will be powered by AMD Karveri A10 APU and AMD-based video card which will go up to a Radeon R9 255. The case of this desktop PC is designed to look like a knight’s armor. Other features includes 12GB memory, customer’s mechanical hard drive choice (up to 4TB), a hybrid hard drice (up to 2TB) or a 256 SSD. Erazer X315 is only marketed in North America now. The Y70 Touch is said to go on sale from October at price of $1299 and Erazer X315 will start at $599 which will go on sale from November.

Dell is all ready to launch 34-inch curved display Monitor!

Dell recently announced its Gaming PC Alienware Area-51. Now, Dell has something else for those folks who want the gaming experience to be on-the-par. Alongside Alienware Area-51 which is powered by Intel’s Haswell-E core i7 processor, they announced their first curved display monitor. Desll UltraSharp U3415W is a 34-inch curved display monitor which will be launching in China coming November and rest of the world will get in December.


This monitor is ultra wide-angle with 21:9 aspect ratio display. Other specs include:

  • WQHD 3440*1440 resolution 34-inch curved display
  • HDMI 2.0, MHL, DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort connectivity
  • 9 Watt integrated dual speakers, 60 Hz performance
When it is setup in multi-monitor configuration, the ultra-thin bezels makes it virtually borderless cockpit view across multiple screens.

Intel’s Haswell-E Processors with up to 8 Cores!

The biggest processor supplier of PC announced its i7 High-end desktop processor code-named Haswell-E which is claimed to be the most powerful consumer CPU. This Core i7-5960X processor boasts 8 cores (16 processor threads), 20MB cache, 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes. It runs at a base clock frequency of 3.0GHz and goes up to 3.5GHz in turbo mode. This processor is the top-of-the-line which is priced at $999.

The other announcements were:

  • The Core i7-5930K with 6 cores (12 processor threads), 15MB cache, 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes clocked at 3.5GHz (up to 3.7GHz in turbo mode) and costs $583
  • The Core i7-5820K with 6 cores (12 processor threads), 15MB cache, 28 PCIw 3.0 lanes clocked at 3.3GHz (up to 3.6GHz in turbo mode) and costs $389.

 
All the processors are unlocked by-default. So, system builders and end-users can tweak in PC’s BIOS and make the CPU run at even higher clock speeds. These Haswell-E processors share up to 20MB of L3 cache and are the first consumer desktop CPUs that support DDR4/2133 memory providing 4 memory channels. They also mention that DDR4 RAM primary benefit will be low power consumption.


At connectivity points, Intel’s X99 chipset supports up to 6 USB 3.0 ports, 8 USB 2.0 ports, 8 PCIe lanes and 10 SATA 6Gbps ports. The targeted consumers of this kind of powerful processor are gamers, content creators and PC enthusiasts. Said so, Intel further claims that Core i7-5960K is up to 
  • 20% faster for 4K video editing, 
  • 32% faster for 3D-Graphics rendering and 
  • 14% faster for game physics and AI processing.

  • Segate announced its 3.5inch body packed 8TB Hard Drive and as per their mention, 10TB models are in the not-too-distant future. 8TB drive is shipping now to select customers and will be more widely available next quarter.
  • With the increase in 1.3 percent in desktop PC shipments, interesting news is that Graphics Card shipment in second quarter of 2014 declined by 17.5 percent compared to previous quarter. Reports say that tablets and embedded graphics caused part of such decline. Nvidia is on top with 62 percent slipping from 64.9 percent and AMD has 37.9 percent share, up from 35 percent.
  • Gaming PC Razer has announced Razer Cortex which helps to compare prices for video games from digital platforms allowing users to create wish lists. Notification will be sent to such wish wists if price drops or such games are available in the stores.
  • Microsoft has dropped the price of Microsft Surface 2 RTby $100 on all the models available meaning you could get one as low as $350 for 32gb model. This almost a year old product has seen such price change may be for stock clearence or for more focus to Surface Pro 3.
